Introduction

Jesus commanded us to search the scriptures (John 5:39) for truth.

I am aware that the title of this book addresses a sensitive issue for most, if not all, church organizations. The subject of money immediately gets everyone’s attention; and when religious beliefs are added to the discussion, a dangerous subject matter is the result. I’m sure this book will prove quite controversial. Yet, I am bold (or perhaps crazy) enough to address this very sensitive topic, which few would dare to broach. I am not fearful of controversy, for it is evidence of questions and confusion. Since God is not the author of confusion, everyone who reads this book must come to a biblically based conclusion upon which they will stand one day before His throne. Either you will agree with the message in this book, or you will disagree. You cannot remain neutral.

Challenges of tradition are not always bad. As we see with Martin Luther, confrontation can be very positive. Millions have received the truth about the grace of God because of the stand he took. Nuggets of Bible truth have been revealed to millions that beforehand considered heresy. Yet, these truths were in the Bible all the while, and they have withstood the test of time. They had either been overlooked or disregarded. So it is with giving for New Testament Christians. It appears that many Christian organizations have moved back under the Law.

If a person is teachable and eager to embrace God’s simple TRUTH, this book will be an exciting, fresh look into Christian stewardship. You will read in this book how the Lord wants to bless you financially. And He will bless you, if you only obey His commands. No, this book is not about prosperity preaching by men who make big promises that seldom materialize. It is about God’s guarantees for giving.

God wants us to test Him, trust Him and prove Him. He will give you more than you can contain. I am living proof of His guarantees.

Many Christians are fed spiritual junk food and as a result they have become spiritually unhealthy. In one sense, these precious children of God are weakened believers. The "bless me" club mentality has caused many sincere Christians to doubt God. Many wonder why God does not bless them when they are faithful tithe payers. Did God deceive these dedicated souls, or did man change the plan that the Lord had for Christians? Sometimes TRUTH is a wake-up call. God gave me the wake-up call about giving His way several years ago; and it has changed my life, as well as many others who have put His plan for giving into action. Read in this book how you can be blessed financially and thereby bless others by giving God’s way.

I have questioned God about the poor economic conditions and hardships that I have seen many Christians going through. These are Christians who are paying tithes without fail, but unknowingly, they are not obeying the New Testament plan for giving. It is obvious that the reason they are not obeying the Lord’s commands is because they do not know them. The reason they do not know them is because they are not taught correctly. In God’s Guarantees for Giving, you will be taught what the Bible says about Christian giving and God’s guarantees for giving. I challenge the man-made law of New Testament tithing in this book. I have read many published works while researching this topic, however none provided specific examples of God’s plan for blessings in action. I have included numerous examples throughout the book as testimony that His plan works! It is not my desire to see the flow of money into our churches decrease, in fact, as you will read in this book, I am encouraging people to give more! I hold no personal vendettas and do not want to point a finger in judgment toward any individuals or organizations. My reason for writing this book is simple. It is to provide information that I discovered while researching this subject of tithing. I have found that the message of tithing has been misinterpreted and abused by many church leaders. God calls us to be good stewards of our time and our finances, and my desire is that this book will provide a wake-up call to all who claim to follow Christ. Please read this book prayerfully with an open mind. Ask God to lead you into all TRUTH.

To test the effectiveness of the message in God’s Guarantee for Giving, I provided a copy to ten very conservative individuals who I knew believed that New Testament tithing was as scriptural as the resurrection. They first believed that I was completely mistaken about what I had written. However, the more they read the book, and the more they studied the Scriptures, the more their understanding changed. One friend said, "Ron, this study has completely changed my mind on the subject of giving. I can’t believe that I had been taught in error all these many years." All ten individuals who received the advanced copies of this manuscript urged me to publish it as a book so the TRUTH can be made known to sincere Christians.

In God’s Guarantee for Giving I have reviewed His Book for the written procedures and commands for New Testament charitable giving. Jesus preached the following message to the Pharisees, "You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men" (Mark 7:8-9, NIV). His tragic warning is still binding for us today. It is a shame to see sincere Christian leaders, faithful Christians, and dedicated churches struggling financially when the Lord wants them to prosper as He said in His Word. The pastor, the church member, and the churches are guaranteed financial blessings if they would only follow the simple commands of the Bible.

Giving is the theme of the Bible For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son . . .(John 3:16). He expects us to give, as He recorded in the parable found in Luke 10:33. However, neither the preacher (priest), nor the Levite would give aid to a man in need. In fact it is recorded that the priest went to the other side of the road just to get away from the poor fellow. But, the Good Samaritan not only stopped and rendered aid to the unfortunate fellow, he place him on his donkey, and brought him to an Inn and took care of him. He also paid the injured man’s hotel bill. In other words the Samaritan was good for nothing, in that he expected "nothing" for his gift to the needy. But he impressed Jesus with this act of generosity.

You may get the impression that I am against preachers, pastors or anyone on the church payroll. That is absolutely not the case. I have a deep reverence and respect for the "Men of God." Many of them have had very little income in the early years of their pastoral career. Some of these are now reaping the financial blessings because of their many years of devoted and dedicated labor to God’s work. I am delighted and excited for them to reach a position of affluence. According to the Scripture, a congregation should consider it a priority to care for the monetary needs of the church staff. It a church prospers under a pastor’s ministry, that congregation should insure that the pastor’s salary is sufficient. My charge to them is to teach and preach the New Testament plan of giving so all hands would be blessed. The New Testament plan does not include tithes! Please read this book prayerfully with an open mind. Ask God to lead you into all TRUTH.

Fasten your seat belts, and let’s take a journey through the Bible on the subject of tithes and giving.
